Classic Science Fiction novel published by H. G. Wells in 1898 and still a fantastic read. An exciting first person narrative following the main character and his brother in London and Surrey as planet Earth is invaded by Martians. This is one of the earliest examples of a first contact novel dealing with humans conflicting with an alien race, not from our neck of the galaxy. The War of the Worlds was popular when it was originally published and has been influential in further adaptations of the novel in radio, film, comic books, etc.

The Time Machine is a classic science fiction story published by H. G. Wells in 1895. Wells is credited with coining the term “Time Machine” and popularized the concept of traveling through time in a man made machine. In the novel, an English inventor creates a Time Machine and uses it to travel to 802,701 AD where he meets the Eloi – a peaceful and child like society. The narrator identified only as “Time Traveller” later discovers a cannibalistic society called the Morlocks living underground that regularly harvest and eat the peaceful and content Eloi. After escaping the Morlocks and leaving behind the Eloi, the Time Traveller travels about 30 million years into the future to see the last living things perish on the earth.
