When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password. If your transaction consists entirely of free downloads the only personally identifiable data collected for those orders consist of First and Last Name, email address, downloads selected and download logs. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:
Send you information about your account and order
Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
Process payments and prevent fraud
Set up your account for our store
Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
Improve our store offerings
Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them
If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.
We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for ten years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses.
When you purchase a physical book from us through our Amazon Affiliate program you will be subject to Amazon’s Conditions of Use and Privacy Policy as we do not process physical book orders on the Offworlders website. When you click on the “Checkout” link for a physical book order you are immediately redirected to Amazon.com to fulfill the order and you are at that time subject to all policies and procedures set by Amazon.
Comments/reviews:
We will also store comments or reviews if you choose to leave them. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
6. Rights to Data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. After you make a request a verification email will be sent to your address of record with Offworlders. You must respond to this verification email before any requests will be processed. If we have questions regarding your request we will contact you using your email address of record. Please note that when you erase your personal data from offworlders that this includes personal data collected when you purchase free downloads from our bookstore. Access to downloadable files be revoked and download logs cleared.
7. How Long We Retain Your Data
Offworlders maintains customer purchase documents for ten years, and the information you send us via our contact form for six months and analytics records for two years. Data related to disputes are maintained for ten years.
If you leave a comment or review, the comment or review and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. If you choose to delete your personal data any comments/reviews you have left on the site will be made anonymous.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Bookstore:
Retain inactive accounts for 6 months.
Retain pending orders for 30 days.
Retain failed orders for 30 days.
Retain canceled orders for 180 days.
Retain completed orders for 10 years
8. E-mail Communications – MailChimp
From time to time, Offworlders may contact you via email for the purpose of providing announcements, promotional offers, alerts, confirmations, surveys, and/or other general communication.
Offworlders uses the mail list service MailChimp to send all non-automated email messages to provide announcements, promotional offers, alerts, confirmations, surveys, and/or other general communication. You must voluntarily sign up to be on the Offworlders mail list to receive these communications. Our process uses a double Opt-In procedure where you have to fill out a form to be added to the list and then confirm that you want to be added to the list by responding to a list activation email. Check boxes to sign up for our mail list are never pre-filled out as you must check the signup box, provide us with your first and last name, and email address to be added to the list
If you would like to stop receiving marketing or promotional communications via email from Offworlders after you voluntarily Opt-In, you may Opt-Out of such communications by unsubscribing from emails by following the unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email or by using our contact us form on the website to request your removal from our mail list.
When you signup to be on the Offworlders mail list the following personal data is stored on a MailChimp Server: Email Address and your First and Last Name. 9. E-mail Communications – Automated
If you create an account on Offworlders you will receive automated system emails that are required for the website to operate. These emails are not marketing, promotional, or general website news messages. These type of emails include, but are not limited to, GDPR related personal data requests, and automated messages such as site registration, confirmation and password change notification emails, and emails related to order processing, and comment moderation. By signing up for an account with Offworlders you agree to accept these messages as you cannot participate as a member of Offworlders without them. The only way to opt out of automated system emails is to cancel your account with Offworlders or not use the services of the website.
10. External Data Storage Sites
We store your data on servers provided by third party hosting vendors with whom we have contracted. Your data is stored on a database/website servers located in the United States.
11. YouTube
Our website uses plugins from YouTube, which is operated by Google. The operator of the pages is YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.
If you visit one of our pages featuring a YouTube plugin, a connection to the YouTube servers is established. Here the YouTube server is informed about which of our pages you have visited.

13. Google Web Fonts
For uniform representation of fonts, this page uses web fonts provided by Google. When you open a page, your browser loads the required web fonts into your browser cache to display texts and fonts correctly.

14. SoundCloud
On our pages, plugins of the SoundCloud social network (SoundCloud Limited, Berners House, 47-48 Berners Street, London W1T 3NF, UK) may be integrated. The SoundCloud plugins can be recognized by the SoundCloud logo on our site.
When you visit our site, a direct connection between your browser and the SoundCloud server is established via the plugin. This enables SoundCloud to receive information that you have visited our site from your IP address. If you click on the “Like” or “Share” buttons while you are logged into your SoundCloud account, you can link the content of our pages to your SoundCloud profile. Offworlders anonymously tracks the pages our users visit within Offworlders using Google Analytics, a service which transmits anonymized website traffic data to Google servers in the United States. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate their IP address with any other data held by Google. We use reports provided by Google Analytics to help us understand Offworlders website traffic and webpage usage. Google Analytics places cookies on your computer as the service cannot function without the use of cookies. The cookies placed on your computer by Google Analytics will record your activity on Offworlders and are sent to Google to produce the analytical reports mentioned in the previous sentence.

We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet anti-spam service. Ads on Offworlders are not personalized to reach users based on their interests, demographics, or targeting. Ads on Offworlders advertise services or products available on Offworlders or organizations owned by INTDirect LLC, the parent company, and owner of offworlders.com. For example, there are currently ads promoting the website Rocketfreelance.com running on Offworlders. Rocket Freelance LLC is also owned by INTDirect LLC.
