Synthetic 04 is an otherworldly artwork that features, according to Creature & Character Designer Leo Haslam from London, a “state of the art synthetic avatar body.” Would pick this cybernetic host to upload your stream of consciousness to at the demise of your organic host body?
Even though I love the artwork, I think I would choose something that looks more like this model:

How do you feel about the topic? If given the opportunity to continue living inside a synthetic avatar host, would you go for it and keep stomping on good old terra firma in an artificial body? My wife told me unapologetically that she would prefer to die a natural organic death than ever consider such an idea (abomination). Myself, I am all for it and would love to live on if my consciousness could make a seamless transition to a synthetic host. I wrote a short story called Wedding Anniversary that took for its inspiration the conversation that took place between myself and my wife on the topic of a stream of consciousness uploading.

As a writer of sci-if, I had often thought of this. Then I came across the works of Robert Sawyer and one of his novels– Mindscan. It changed my thinking about this topic. It changed the way I write. This is an excellent read, which explores the ethics of immortality though artificial means.
I will need to check that out!
